Top shoe designer to the stars, Manolo Blahnik, has revealed the inspiration behind his creative shoe designs. His niece revealed this week that her uncle makes up a 'story' for every shoe he designs. Speaking in The Independent newspaper, to help promote the launch of his exclusive collection for Liberty, Blahnik's niece works alongside her famous uncle and is considered to be his left-hand woman.
Manolo Blahnik's shoes have long been the shoe of choice for the elite, from the late Princess Diana to Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie Bradshaw in the hit TV show Sex And The City. It seems that those who can afford Blahnik's just cant get enough of his shoes - exquisite designs, great craftsmanship and a price tag that means that you won't see every woman you know walking down the street in them! A pair of Manolo Blahnik's shoes are considered by some the ultimate fashion statement piece.
And it seems that the thought process behind Manolo Blahnik's designs consists of making up characters and stories to inspire his creativity – such as who would wear the shoe and to what occasion?
Mr Blahnik will be in London this week to launch his Manolo Blahnik for Liberty collection on the 8th of September, as part of the capital's Fashion Night Out event. Blahnik will be appearing with Yasmin Le Bon, the supermodel wife of Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon and long time self-confessed Blahnik fan. The grand opening of the World of Manolo room is at Liberty from 6.30pm and the man himself will be staying on until 8pm to mingle with customers.
Many women admire his shoes but understandably are unable to afford the sky-high Manolo Blahnik price tag. But a lot of women have a similar favourite pair of killer heels in their wardrobe. The foot pain wreaked by those designer look-a-like heels is considered, by most, to be entirely worth it! If you have a pair of ‘killer’ heels there are some excellent shoe insole products available to help ease the stress caused to your feet including Foot Petals Killer Kushionz, Tip Toes and Amazing Arches arch supports.
