Perhaps not the most glamorous accolade the former Spice Girl has received, but Victoria Beckham has recently been voted as the celebrity with the worst feet - no doubt down to her bunions.
The survey conducted by footwear firm Scholl, as part of its 'Keeping Britain on its Feet' campaign, revealed that 71 per cent of those asked felt that Victoria had the worst celebrity feet. And 67 per cent said that she should have urgent surgery to fix her 'gnarly' bunions!
The award will come as no surprise to those who regularly read the gossip columns online and in the newspapers. Mrs Beckham is regularly photographed teetering around supermarkets and the streets in skyscraper heels. Some photos seem to show that she is wearing shoes a size too big - with speculation that she may have to wear a larger size to accommodate the bunions.
Increasing heights in heels have become a recent fashion requirement. Not so long ago the highest heel height was around the 4-inch mark and that was seen as excessive. But now shoes with heels as high as 5 and 6 inches can be found on the high street and this, apparently, down to consumer demand. For many women, high heels make them feel slimmer and more attractive - and they also add a height boost to those who wish they were taller.
But foot specialists will tell you that there is nothing alluring about the health problems caused by wearing high heels. These range from blisters all the way up to serious back problems and longer term degenerative foot problems such as bunions. Not to mention the accidents people are having falling or tripping because of their high heels.
It would seem that high heels are fine in small doses but to avoid those unsightly bunions, wearing them around the clock is a definite no-no.
