Well Preserved With A Shoe Storage Box

Here's the perfect example of the benefits of using shoe storage boxes to protect your shoes - a shoe dating back to the 17th century has recently been found perfectly preserved in a box under a bed! It's amazing to think that the shoe has survived all this time but the fact that the shoe was stored in a box must have helped to keep it in the excellent condition in which it was found so many years later.

Found on the small island of Canna, which is owned by the Scottish National Trust and just off the Isle of Skye, the shoe is such a rare find that another box has been specially made to protect it. The shoe was found in a house owned by a couple who were experts in Gaelic culture. A type of mule, it is made of silk, satin, metal and leather and experts have put a date on it from somewhere between 1640 through to the late 1660s.

The benefit of storing your own shoes in boxes to keep them at their best has been well documented and this find definitely seems to back up the evidence. Not only is it an easy way to create space, get organised and generally de-clutter your wardrobe but you will also be preserving your shoes and helping to keep them in tip-top condition.

Most clear shoe boxes can be stacked which helps to create a more organised state of affairs for anyone who suffers from the common problem of finding the bottom of their wardrobe permanently cluttered with a jumbo pile of shoes and boots. Some people think that shoe storage boxes can take up more room than other types of shoe storage but this is far from true and boxes can be stacked high and fitted into awkward spaces.
